As a host, there are many ways to make your Room sparkle🌟
1. Add Congregation 'Areas'
Areas are digital meeting locations you can create in your Room.
Areas appear as white squares and allow your guests to navigate a Room and move to topics that they find most relevant or interesting. See them in action here.
Areas can be designated with uses including:
Topics of interest where guests can gather and discuss after a presentation.
Digital booths for presenters.
Breakout groups for workshops or classrooms.
Wonder currently supports up to 15 Room Areas.
2. Change the background
You can use one of our 40 sample backgrounds for your Room, or upload your own.
2600px x 1400px are the ideal dimensions.
JPEG is the most ideal format, but we also support PNG and SVG.
Keep the background smaller than 3MB for best performance.
Pro tip: Make your background make sense! A white background is not an ideal backdrop for white Areas–it shouldn’t be hard to look at. Always remember, calm colors equal calm guests 😌
To set a custom background: double-click on the image OR click it once and then press Confirm. After uploading a custom background, press Save background.
Please note: If you decide to upload a custom background, the image may appear differently to your guests, depending on their screens–so we don’t recommend using design elements that are meant to correspond with different Areas in the Room. We have a solution for that right here.
3. Invite people to your Room
Anyone who has your Room URL can join–so start sharing it with your buddies! Your unique Room link/URL can be found in the bottom left-hand corner of your Room via the “clipboard” icon, and in your confirmation email; alternatively, simply copy it from your browser’s URL bar.
Helpful ☝️ Bookmark your Room link/URL for the next time you want to share it!
4. Protect your Room with a password
You can protect your Room with a guest password. Make sure you share this with anyone you’ve invited to the Room so they–and only they!–have access.
You can change the guest password at any time.
FYI: You (the host) will also need the guest password to access the Room, so keep it somewhere you’ll find it. If you lost your guest password, we’ll let you back in–just send us the Room link/URL from the email address you opened the Room with.
5. Add an ice-breaker question
Your guests deserve better than “So, come here often…?” You can give them a conversational head start by setting an icebreaker question: guests will be asked the question before entering the Room, and their answers will be visible when other guests hover their cursors over their avatar.
Need some help? Here are some ideas:
What company do you work for?
What could you talk about for hours?
What’s your favorite band and why isn't it Black Sabbath?
6. Update the room name
Ever named something, and then realized you were stuck with the name forever?
Luckily, you can change your Room name anytime you want. Go to the host options settings to switch up the name to match your mood, event type, or guest list. The options are limitless!
That's it–you’re set and sparkling! 🙂
